British Police Headquarters to move out of New Scotland Yard

Police are to move out of New Scotland Yard in a £500 million cost cutting exercise.

The police headquarters – which is close to Downing Street and the Ministry of Defence – is a national landmark, distinguished by the revolving sign outside.

But the signature building is just part of a swathe of police property being sold off to meet stringent budget cuts.

The new HQ will be on the Embankment at Curtis Green- which was once Canon Row police station. Police chiefs say the sign will be moved to the new site as well.

  2. Did you hear the comments on the News Quiz about this? Very funny and pointed.
